Lack of quorum threatens board changes at WSiP

Shareholders of the widely held WSiP textbook publisher may not be able to push through proposed board changes and amendments to its corporate statute because of lack of quorum. The company, along with Polish government, is trying to gather as many individual shareholders? votes as possible to make the changes. WSiP has a free float of more than 68%.

TP raises dividend

Poland?s national phone company Telekomunikacja Polska has raised its annual dividend to 0.33 zloty per share, up from 0.12 zloty two years ago. Separately, chief executive Marek Józefiak said that nearly 2200 employees have agreed to TP?s voluntary layoff program.

Netia to own minority stake in mobile venture

Iceland?s Novator private equity fund will probably take a majority stake in a mobile phone joint venture with Polish phone company Netia SA. Now wholly owned by the Polish firm, Netia Mobile is making a bid for the country?s fourth 3G and GSM licenses. Novator? owner Thor Bjorgolfsson says his fund is ready to invest ?hundreds of millions of euros? in Netia Mobile if the company wins a license to build new mobile phone network.
