Government to offer different compensation to highway operators

Polish government may offer different amounts of compensation to the two operators of toll highways in this country, sources told PARKIET yesterday. Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska may receive a smaller refund for the exemption of commercial trucks that use the existing toll highway connecting Kraków and Katowice in the south of the country, based on previous traffic patterns. Meanwhile, Autostrada Wielkopolska in west-central Poland claims up to 150 million zloty in compensation based on estimates of future traffic made five years ago.

February consumer prices fell 0.1 percent, GUS says

Polish consumer prices fell 0.1 percent in February from the previous month, pushing the annual rate to just 3.6 percent, the country's Main Office of Statistics (GUS) said in a report released yesterday. Market watchers said the news makes another interest rate cut much more likely.

Poland unlikely to sell 50-year bonds, Finance Ministry says

Polish Finance Ministry won't be selling any more long-dated debt until the market for 20-year bonds becomes more liquid, government official told PARKIET recently. Poland sold just one billion zloty ($330 million) worth of 20-year bonds last year, but the country is unlikely to follow France EU members that either begun or plan to start issuing 50-year bonds this year.
