WSiP board changes stalled by lack of

quorum

Shareholders of Wydawnictwa Szkolne i Pedagogiczne textbook publisher won?t be able to change their company?s articles of association because of lack of quorum at the upcoming special meeting. Only one third of WSiP shareholders have bothered to register to vote on key changes, including election of new board members. The meeting, scheduled for May 9, has been called at the request of AIG and Pioneer pension and investment funds.

Copyrights dispute between Techmex and Geosystems heats up

Geographic Information Systems provider Geosystems Polska says it has filed a suit against the much larger Techmex IT group alleging that Bielsko-Biała-based competitor has been using its data to sell digital maps. Techmex founder and CEO Jacek Studencki rejects those charges.

Swissmed plans another stock sale

Private hospital operator Swissmed Centrum Zdrowia plans to raise 10 million zloty ($3.1 million) within weeks to pay for the preparations to build another medical facility. The company has already begun talks with property developers to build a new hospital in Warsaw.

MNI profits double

Sales of call center operator and telecommunications services provider MNI SA have nearly tripled to more than 16 million zloty, the company said yesterday in its March quarterly report. Earnings were almost double last year?s PLN 2.5 million, totaling some 4.8 million zloty.

BPH reports first-quarter earnings

Bank Austria?s Polish unit, publicly traded Bank BPH said yesterday its first quarter earnings were up 40 percent to as much as 205.5 million zloty. However, chief executive Józef Wancer said the bank is unlikely to meet its previous annual target of 1 billion zloty in earnings.
